All friends are welcome to join Red Balloon in celebrating Carol Dines's latest young adult novel The Take-Over Friend, and Gary Eldon Peter's The Complicated Calculus (and Cows) of Carl Paulsen! Carol and Gary will be joined by fellow author and guest moderator, Judith Katz.

What does it mean to have a best friend? For Frances and Sonja, it’s everything. The Take-Over Friend powerfully explores themes of guilt, jealousy, possessiveness, and the difficult task of staying true to oneself. In Gary Eldon Peter's The Complicated Calculus (and Cows) of Carl Paulsen, 15-year-old Carl as he confronts his crush on Andy Olnan, a handsome and confident but secretive “city boy” recently transplanted to farm life from Minneapolis, who may or may not share the same feelings.

Join us for readings from Carol Dines and Gary Eldon Peter and a conversation moderated by Judith Katz (pictured below). There will, of course, be time for questions from the audience, followed by a signing line!

Additional books will be available for purchase the night of the event. Face coverings are required of all guests for the duration of this event, and food and drink are not allowed. Red Balloon will have disposable masks on hand if you find yourself without.

Signing Guidelines: Following the talk, the authors will sign and personalize copies of their books. If you would prefer not to stay for the signing portion, Red Balloon is happy to have your books signed and personalized for you and will contact you when they're ready to be picked up.
